Roundabout

Milky Way

  • Location - Shevlin & Mt. Washington
  • Artist - Devin Field
  • Year Installed - 2014

Connecting the Mt. Washington Drive around Awbrey Butte and Shevlin Park Road on the west side of Bend, this stunning installation uses solar power to illuminate the artwork at night using fiber-optics.

Devin specializes in large-scale public art commissions fabricated in metal. They are often site-specific, synthesizing elements from the site, local tradition or history and the artist’s own form of vocabulary. The son of a zoologist, Field’s travels as a child formed the basis for a keen perspective on the relationship between the built environment and the natural world.

Devin’s sculptures are in the permanent collections of museums, cities and sculpture parks around the world. One World One Dream is a permanent piece sited between the National Stadium and the Water Cube for the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
